There are two climbing roses next to the kitchen door, a vigorous white one and an even more vigorous pink one.
The white climber has finished now, but the pink one is still going strong.
Most of the urns contain Sweet Williams, which are all but over, but this one was planted up with
geraniums, petunias and lobelia and is just coming into its own.
As the Sweet Williams give up, we have replaced some with beetroot and mangetout. Not exactly what
we were planning, but the veg need a home!
The current star of the border is this pink Phlox. The
Lychnis chalcedonica
to the left is a little
overshadowed now, but was showy a few weeks ago. Michèle calls them "Ascot Ladies" as they look like elegantly-hatted ladies off to
the races.
The Eryngium in front is the blue version of
Miss Wilmott's Ghost. The Leycesteria plants on either side
are just starting to flower. Although most people know them as "Himalayan Honeysuckle", they will always be
"
Pecorama" plants to us, after the place we first saw them.
